For my store page, click here You are bidding on a genuine EL CORTEZ casino $1 (one dollar) Bonded Silverclad/Klad gaming/slot token (1966 Franklin Mint "Full Proof" version, property opened in 1941, still operating today, obsolete token) from Las Vegas, Nevada. "Proof-like" tokens are limited edition versions made by the Franklin Mint for collectors. Proof-like tokens are identical in design to the regular strike version, except they have a highly polished/reflective finish, uncirculated, and are excellent for collecting. "Full Proof" tokens were originally made for casino presentation, they are even more limited and have even higher detail/embossing with a more frosted finish on the edges (likely struck with a different die). Around 2000-2500 proof-like sets and 500 full proof sets were produced each year from 1965-1969 (each year featured different casinos). The 1966 series was the only year to feature a full proof set entirely in bonded silver klad finish. This token measures 37.1 mm in diameter (standard $1 slot size from 1965-2000s, slightly heavier at 0.9 oz vs. the standard 0.7 oz.). Its made from Bonded "Silver Klad" (outer layers of sterling silver with a nickel silver core, color compared to proof nickel silver tokens is noticeably brighter as shown in the pictures). As you can see in the pictures below, this token is in excellent, uncirculated condition, as shown (and has a more polished appearance in person, due to the angle of lighting).
