This ring features a semi-bezel set natural blue zircon in a light, green-blue hue. It measures 6.0 mm point to base and weighs 1.17 carats. This lovely gemstone is eye clean in clarity and well cut, but there is some very minor "paper wear"; insignificant nicks and abrasions from being in a parcel paper with other gems. This is par for the course with zircons; almost all natural zircons develop surface abrasions as they are worn. The gem is of Cambodian origin, from Columbia Gem House's Aspara Zircon (R) collection. Virtually all natural blue zircons are heat treated, and Columbia Gem House indicates that this gem underwent this treatment. Blue Zircon is the traditional birthstone for December, but due to its rarity you will more often seen blue topaz substituted for it today. In this respect, natural blue zircon has become somewhat of a collector's gemstone. The mounting has a hand-made designer look and feel in a chic, contemporary design; Trigem Designs style number 6193-210-2W. The ring is solid 14 karat white gold. It is currently finger size 6.25 but is easily sizable by any competent jeweler. The ring weighs a substantial 4.2 grams, and the bold, chunky design is 7 mm wide at the top.
