Description: 14 Painter-Printmakers, exhibition catalog for a show at Brooklyn Museum that started in November of 1955. Very rare - this is currently the only copy listed for sale anywhere online. The 14 artists chosen for this exhibition were: Will Barnet, Minna Citron, Worden Day, Perle Fine, Sue Fuller, Jan Gelb, Boris Margo, Alice Trumbull Mason, Seong Moy, Gabor Peterdi, Louis Schanker, Karl Schrag, Kurt Seligmann and John von Wicht. The lineup is heavily influenced by the Atelier 17 roster. Perhaps more notable, though, is that 6 of the 14 artists selected were women. Illustrated throughout in black and white. Each of the artists has 2 illustrations in the catalog - one showing a painting and one showing a print. The front cover was taken from a design by Mason. Softcover, 11 x 8.5 inches. In good condition, clean and unmarked contents, secure binding; bumping and creasing throughout; scratch to front cover; light soiling to rear cover. A fascinating look at a choice selection of mid century modern artists who excelled both painting and printmaking.
