This immensely popular work was the first cookery book to be published in the Thirteen Colonies of America in 1742. Interestingly this work contains the first published recipe for "katchup", the recipe for which included mushrooms, anchovies, and horseradish, and also appears to be the earliest source for bread and butter pudding. Though the volume is primarily focuses on food, the author also provides recipes for wines, coridals, medicines, and salves. By Eliza Smith, this is her only published work. Light bumping to the extremities. A small amount of loss to the head and tail of the spine. Lacking the spine label. Joints are starting, resulting in the leather to be lifting a little. Hinges are strained. Ink inscription to the paste downs. Lacking the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with the occasional scattered spot. Chip to leaf S7, resulting in loss to eleven sentences. Closed tears to the folding plates.
