Description: I have here for sale a folio size book entitled AN EXPOSITION OF THE CREED by John Pearson, Lord Bishop of Chester. It is a twelfth edition revised and corrected, published by D Midwinter, C Rivington, et al in 1741. There is a small vignette to the title page and a full page frontispiece portrait of John Pearson. It takes the wording of the Creed and breaks it down into phrases and explains its significance in detail. Printed bible references in the margins. Full brown calf leather hardboards with a gilt border. Spine has 6 raised bands, a brown leather title block and gilt lettering. Leather is starting to lift in two places to the front joint and in one place to the base of the rear joint. Slight wear to corners. Boards firm. Signature to the top of the title page. All pages clean and firm. 398 pages + Index of the Texts of the Scripture and a General Index. 34 x 22 cm.
