Description: 1776 RUSSIAN DOUBLE EAGLE KOPEK MONEYCLIP SURGICAL STEEL WITH COA & Box 44mm This is an original 1776 Russian five Kopecks large solid bronze double eagle Russian imperial coin of Catherine the Great set into a high grade surgical steel money clip with a light bronze edging that accentuates and handsomely edges the genuine coinage of Russia's Catherine the Great. There's also a jeweler screwdriver included and either side can be shown out. The reverse is shown in photos to follow and there is a dime shown to give comparison to the item size This is about the size of a silver eagle by comparison. The traditional double eagle design shows the sword the talons of the left side eagle and the cross being held firmly in the talons of the right side imperial Russian eagle. These coins were struck in pure copper bronze they were high grade. Each coin was struck with nearly 2 oz of copper with a final weight of more than 50 grams. This gives the money clip a good solid feeling without being overweight. The coin is written in Cyrillic and shows the crown monogram of Ekaterina the second with the date 1776 divided within the wreath on the reverse. This coin came from a dig site in the Eastern United States Around an area outside of Philadelphia. In 1776 the Americans lost for Washington and 3000 American soldiers were taken hostage by the British Great Britain was intent on keeping a naval blockade around the colonies. Russia's Catherine the great greatly opposed the British naval blockade and the colonial intervention of Great Britain on the Americas. Catherine the Great was a strong force in the maintaining of trade with the 13 American colonies. King George III appealed to Catherine the Great to please send 20,000 troops in an expeditionary Force to America to help fight against the colonies The Russian empress flatly refused. Again Catherine the great turn down the English bribery in the colonies survived and we are America today. This is an interesting and true story that's not often heard.
