Description: The Gentleman's MagazineJune, 1783American Flag ResolutionGeorge WashingtonRevolutionary WarNew York "Between the American army and the Congress the greatest harmony subsists. Gen. Washington has presented a petition from the army, requesting that each soldier should have either a portion of land allotted to him, full pay for five years, or half-pay for life....Gen. Washington has requested permission of Congress to retire to a private station not stipulating a single condition for himself......" ****** "Philadelphia, April 17. In Congress, June 14, 1777. Resolved, That the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white: That the Union be thirteen stars, white, in a blue field, representing a new constellation." Original 1783 issue with much historic content relating to the end of the Revolutionary War, the new flag with 13 stars (1777 Resolution) - a "new constellation," troops being paid, being sent home from both sides, Gen. George Washington, Articles of Peace, Capture of Hudson Bay Settlements, Parliament, Congress, the Crown, Quebec, troops in New York - getting them back home post war, "Dismemberment of America the Design of Providence," coins, and a rich wonderful engraving starts it all off - "To the Master, Wardens, Court of Assistants & Livery of the Worshipful Company of VINTNERS." Last couple of pages a bit muddled at top, corners show light creasing, all else is quite clean and neat. ******We ship swiftly and with safety in mind.Thank you.
