Paine MD to the title page, and with the blind stamp 'A.M. Antiquarian Society, Worcester, Mass.' to the same leaf. William Paine (1750-1833) was an American physician and political figure, and was a founding member of the American Antiquarian Society. CONDITION Rebacked, in a full calf binding with back strip laid down, and boards restored. Retaining the original endpapers. Hinges strained but firmly held, with tape repair to front hinge. Internally, firmly bound. Inscription and blind stamp to title page head. Pages lightly age toned, but otherwise clean and bright.
