After dealing in these amazing antiques for 25 years with many hundreds of thousands of antique textiles passing through my hands, I have an instinct for dating as much as a science. Instinctually I date this piece to the 17ht century ~ This piece is an antique hand block printed however, this is a printed linen with an Indian Design, so the mystery gets deeper. Found in Europe, but distinctly not Indian due to the linen ground cloth. India was a producer of linen, but it's more known for it's export of cotton and silk. This piece was found with three others, and when put together they make a one panel, I can even line up the stitching so I know they were once one piece. ( to view the others, simply search my store for the word Mystery and they will appear ) this indigo, printed piece flanked each side of a natural linen panel, , indigo blue linen ~ It's a finely , hand woven linen with a drawn and block printed design. Deep dark patina ~ A magical and intriguing panel!~ MEASUREMENTS : approximately 71 inches by 13.5 inches ~ CONDITION : This lovely piece is in as found, not freshly laundered condition . It has heavy uneven fading and rich dark patina. There are some age marks and a few very small holes visible when held to the light ~*~ A wonderful mystery! Inventory : Library FF 92
