17"x58" CPI Stainless Top Mounted Multi-Flue Chimney Rain Cap w/12" High Screen

Description: After 43 years, we closed down our chimney sweep business and a year later are selling all our brand new inventory for 50% (or more) off wholesale list prices. We are much cheaper than most others on eBay, as we are not trying to make a profit, but need to clear out our inventory for good at a loss. Once one of our listings is sold out, it is gone for good. We were a service business, so we don't mind answering any technical or aesthetic questions about these products and how they work. These rain caps are used when there is more than one flue opening at the top of your masonry chimney. Most homeowners have at least a fireplace flue opening at the top and a second flue to vent a furnace and may have a woodstove flue opening or multiples of the others. Why buy a very expensive custom made cap to fit your chimney, when one of the 17 different sizes we have listed ranging from 13.5"x13.5" to 28"x61" may fit your chimney top. Generally, flue openings are too close to each other to fit two or more individual flue caps on, as their lids are usually several inches larger than the flue tile sizes. This results in flue caps being jammed together and lids bent up or down or cut down to fit, which looks ugly. Plus rain is dumped under an adjacent cap’s lid into the flue opening or dumped in between them. One large rain cap protects all the flue openings and top surface better, looks much better and usually costs a lot less than a bunch of little flue caps. If you can get to your chimney top, measure the dimensions of the exterior of the chimney top. Then measure the area taken up by the flue tiles. The rain cap base or screen size, which is the size shown in the listing, should be somewhere between these 2 sets of dimensions. We can help you with this and can probably even figure out the size from a photo. The other thing to look for is the height of the flue tiles above the top surface (if they stick up at all). The screen height of this cap is 12", so the flue tiles should not be more than 8" to 10" high, or they will need to be cut down for the cap to fit. New in original box in knock-down form to save on space and freight, this cap is easily assembled on site in minutes. Lids are held on solid studs with easily screwed on stainless steel wing nuts for easy inspections and sweepings of flues. Lid made of 24 ga. and mesh 18 ga. 304 stainless steel* with a Lifetime Manufacturer's Warrantee included. Lid size is 7" larger than screen size to better protect the flue openings from rain. Screens keep out wildlife and debris. Tabs at base of screen stick out beyond screen by 1.5".for fastening to top of chimney surface or crown Sides are also connected together with solid studs screwed down with stainless steel thumb screws and one or more sides are reversible, so tabs can be fastened inside or outside the cap in tight spaces (as when chimney top dimensions are the same or slightly less than cap screen dimensions in length or width or both. Comes with Tapcon screws and washers to attach tabs to crown. You will need an electric drill with a 1/8" to 5/32" masonry bit to drill holes in the top masonry of the chimney and a 5/16" hex nut driver to fasten the cap to the chimney securely. It also comes with adhesive, which may have dried out in the last year, but I never used it or trusted it to hold these caps securely. You are much better off with Tapcons. *If you do not like the look of stainless steel, we have also listed Black paint especially made to paint stainless steel. After being painted with this paint, if you don’t like black, you can paint over this with any other color that might not stick to stainless steel, but will stick to this black paint.
