Clocks, watches, clockwork, sundials, hourglasses, clepsydras, timers, time recorders, marine chronometers, and atomic clocks are all examples of instruments used to measure time. DATE PRINTED: 1819. SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 25.5 x 18.5 cm (10 x 7.25 inches) plus margins with a blank back (medium). ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Unknown. PROVENANCE: Published in "The Cyclopaedia; or, Universal Dictionary of Arts, Sciences and Literature". Published by by Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, & Brown in London. The 19th-century encyclopedic work was published in serialized form from 1802 to 1820 consisting in total of 39 volumes of text, 5 volumes of plates and an atlas.
