Description: This is an original 1824 published engraving of the Fairmount Water Works on the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia, PA. Has a centerfold as issued. Archival framing. Short tears just into the image on both sides probably done while turning pages in the volume it was issued in. Engraved by R. Campbell after a drawing by Thomas Birch and published by Edward Parker in 1824. Hinge mounted only at the top and not glued down so the paper is waffling a little in the mat window. The frame is 21.5 by 13.5 inches. 100% cotton rag matting. Ready to hang as-is because I had it opened and examined and the glass cleaned and re-sealed. This is one of the earliest views of the water works issued just after or contemporary with the two Doughty views! And much more affordable than those two prints by far.
