Description: On offer: an original (i.e. not a later reproduction) antique print "Fall of Foyers (Inverness shire).", Scotland. A view of The Fall of Foyers, a waterfall on the River Foyers, which feeds Loch Ness, in the Scottish Highlands. DATE PRINTED: 1836, dated on the print.SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 20 x 12 cm, 8 x 4.75 inches (medium) plus margins. ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Engraved by E. Radlyffe from an original study by Thomas Allom. Thomas Allom (13 March 1804 – 21 October 1872) was an English architect, artist, and topographical illustrator. He was a founding member of what became the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He designed many buildings in London, including the Church of St Peter's and parts of the elegant Ladbroke Estate in Notting Hill. He also worked with Sir Charles Barry on numerous projects, most notably the Houses of Parliament, and is also known for his numerous topographical works, such as Constantinople and the Scenery of the Seven Churches of Asia Minor, published in 1838, and China Illustrated, published in 1845. PROVENANCE: Published in "Scotland Illustrated"; by William Beattie, M.D., illustrated in a series of views taken expressly for this work by Messrs. T. Allom, W.H. Bartlett, and H. McCulloch; published by George Virtue, (London : 1835-1838).TYPE: Antique steel plate engraving printed on paper. VERSO: There is nothing printed on the reverse side, which is blank. CONDITION: Good.
