SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 19 x 14.5 cm, 7.5 x 5.75 inches (medium) plus margins. ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Engraved by William Woolnoth (1780-1837) from an original study by the gifted Thomas Allom. Thomas Allom (13 March 1804 – 21 October 1872) was an English architect, artist, and topographical illustrator. He was a founding member of what became the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He designed many buildings in London, including the Church of St Peter's and parts of the elegant Ladbroke Estate in Notting Hill. He also worked with Sir Charles Barry on numerous projects, most notably the Houses of Parliament, and is also known for his numerous topographical works. PROVENANCE: Produced for "Scotland illustrated in a series of views taken expressly for this work by T. Allom, W.H. Bartlett, and H. M'Culloch " (George Virtue, London : 1835-1838).
