Description: Rare original copy of Smollett’s “The Expedition of Humprhy Clinker,” which is illustrated by George Cruikshank with 4 black and white plates as called for. The book is overall in good condition with some signs of wear and age. It is undated, but circa sometime around 1836. The covers have some mild wear. The binding is good and sound. There is a nice old bookplate adhered to the front pastedown. The interior is toned from age with some occasional foxing. A couple of leaves or so have some marginal chipping which does not affect the text. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as another tiny chip or tear, light bit of soiling or grubbiness, minor marking, creased page corner, minor interior crack, etc. Generally though, it's a good copy. The book measures approximately 6 1/2 inches by 4 1/8 inches and is 338 pages long with a black and white frontispiece portrait and 4 black and white Cruikshank plates.
