Description: The Tourist in Spain, Biscay and the Castiles. By Thomas Roscoe, illustrated by David Roberts, and published in London by Robert Jennings and Company. 1837, 294 pp, 5x8’’, hardcover binding. In as-is condition. The cover boards have been re-taped with black duct tape by a previous owner, as pictured. Covers and spine have age-related wear and toning that has caused some darker discoloration. Front cover board and first few pages are loose. Pages have age-related toning and foxing. Hinges on the text block are in good condition and pages have good support. Illustrations have some toning and foxing, but are otherwise in good condition and are clear to see throughout. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. Thomas Roscoe was an English author and translator. David Roberts was a Scottish painter known for his detailed lithographs of Egypt and the Near East that he created during his travels in the area. He spent a portion of his life working in London as a scene painter and set designer for theatre productions. Issues with binding and hinges due to age and wear could provide an excellent opportunity for restoration and rebinding, if desired. COLT1837BCDZ
