1850’s Georgia Currency – Augusta – Civil War Bullets – 5534

Description: An original hand signed “Fifty Dollars” note issued by “The Merchants of Georgia” in 1850’s. The note was printed by a New York engraver. The note is printed on one side only. The hand inscribed serial number has faded. Early notes like this were still in use during the Civil War. Original lead bullets excavated from the Wilderness and Spotsylvania Battlefields near Fredericksburg, Virginia. The 1864 battles were the beginning of General Grant’s “Overland Campaign” to take Richmond. From left they are a fired .57 Confederate Enfield rifle, a dropped .58 Federal round for the Springfield Rifle and a fired .58 rifle that could have been used by either side. They are mounted in an 8” x 12” Riker style case with glass front. All of the artifacts are guaranteed to be original Civil War issue or as stated. A hand signed and dated “Certificate of Authenticity” will be issued by Collectors Frame with a photograph and description of the items purchased. Please see our "About Collectors Frame” for more information on the framing and artifacts.
