Description: I have a raw BU example of this token and here is a nearly identical twin to that one. Most would call this one BU and I'm sure there is some little detail that the ANACS grader saw as the tiniest wear, making this the AU58 as opposed to an MS60. I am not sure why, but over the years I have noticed that collectors would prefer to have a 58 rather than a 60. It could be that when it comes to desirability of an uncirculated coin/token graded MS60 it's vierwed as the lowest possible grade for an uncirculated example. And the 58 is viewed as just a hair away from being called uncirculated. That's just my observation over too many years selling coins and tokens. Saying a coin or token is "uncirculated" is a positive; saying it is a 58 (just the tiniest, minor little bit of wear no one can see) is a positive. But saying it is an MS60 or maybe a 61 translates to a less desirable token. That is human subjectivity. The Sheldon grading range of 2-70 is very definitive. 60 is better than 58. 61 is better than 60. 62 is better than 61....and so on. So here is that tiny subjective thing we can't see but the ANACS grader did. It's always up to the buyer. Remember, you have the choice to make.
