Description: 1865 Two Cents, rarer Fancy 5 variety, of the first years of this new denomination concept, authenticated / graded / encapsulated by PCGS as Choice Uncirculated, MS-64 BN. The year before, this was part of the U.S. Treasury's introduced answer to missing and hoarded coinage, from small cents to double eagles, that vanished from circulation as citizens awaited the Civil War's outcome and avoided losing money to discounted paper currency. This was also the first U.S. coin with the patriotic and religious motto "In God We Trust;" it was selected government officials' ideas, but it caught on as catching the mood and fervor of a populace anticipating final victory with Providence's help. Later, by the 1870s, the mission of this coin and the 3 cents were nearing completion as the Mint caught up to the coinage needs of the Eastern U.S. and consumers would get picky about what coins they preferred to use. But that would be in the future; in 1865 and for a little afterwards, this was gladly received and circulated. But not this one made available for you! This is not Red-Brown but is Brown with significant, original red lustre; around everywhere; all the features and legends, in the fields shield stripes, and around the rims. The reverse shows a die crack connecting the legend "UNITED STATES." It is a Civil War-era issue, of scarce variety, die state, and red lustre, encapsulated for you to enjoy its displayed designs and history. Enjoy considering (shipped with signature tracking for your assurance).
