1870's-1880's BARBER WEARING APRON W/ RAZOR & WHETSTONE TINTYPE 3 5/16" x 2 3/8"

Description: Original circa 1870's-1880's tintype of a handsome young man with long mustache. He is a barber. He wears a long cloth apron & holds a straight razor folded open in one hand & a whetstone to sharpen the razor in the other hand. A scarce subject for an occupational tintype. He has some pleasing tinting on his face. Measures 3 5/16 inches by 2 3/8 inches. There are assorted minor flaws as usually found on most tintypes such as some bends & some minor surface wear from age. Also, there are thousands of age tiny craze lines on the surface of the photo in the emulsion. These are not visible when the tintype is viewed straight on. But, they show right away when the tintype is held at an angle & viewed in bright light. This interesting photo came from an old Pennsylvania collection of tintypes which was formed over several decades.
