Description: In this listing we are offering an original cast iron bell toy number 24. This toy is circa 1880's-1890's & was made by the Gong Bell Toy Company in New England. This example is incomplete. So, this is being offered for parts or to be repaired. All components which are present are entirely original & all paint present is entirely original. The toy has never been repaired or repainted in any way. Missing is a thin wire structure which held two seated early American painted tin figures which are also missing. When the toy was pushed or pulled the figures would rock up & down. There would have been a bell held on to the top iron framed section by a small nut shaped like an acorn. These two components are missing. The bell would ring when the toy was pushed or pulled. The toy shows paint wear. But, the majority of the all original paint is still present. There are no cracks, no repairs, & no touch-ups to the all original paint. The toy appears to have never been cleaned. A fascinating, delicate, & charming toy. Certainly well worth having restored &/or collecting just as it sits. The toy is 6 1/4 inches long by 4 1/2 inches tall by 3 3/16 inches wide across the wheels. The weight is 14 ounces. Please examine the photos closely and purchase based on your own judgement as to condition and value. This item is inventory #10,781.
