Entrepreneur and civil servant, Gault was engaged in many pursuits including farming, banking, railroads among others. He served in various civic positions very early in his career including delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1851, railroad commissioner for several terms, delegate to the Republican National Convention 1876, member of the Republican State Committee and State Senator in 1885. William Hazen Kimball (1817-1892) is listed in Craig’s Daguerreian Registry, “Began daguerreotyping in 1844, and was listed in Concord, N.H., 1849-1861. He was also listed with R. H. Kimball & Co. with Richard H. Kimball. Joseph L. Kimball is listed in Craig’s Daguerreian Registry, “Listed as a daguerreian in Concord, N.H., 1850-1861. In 1850 he was listed at 189 Main Street,...in 1853-54 in Stuckney’s Block; and in 1856, at 198 Main Street. In the book, “History of The Kimball Family,” by Morrison, William is noted as one of the first to engage in daguerreotyping beginning in 1844 in Manchester, later joining his brother Joseph in Concord permanently.
