Description: RARE ONE-OF-A-KIND PUBLICATION OF THE FULL SCORE OF A SONG WRITTEN IN 1899 BY A UK COMPOSER, BERANRD C. de LISLE. I can't find anything about the composer or the song, but according to the several articles affixed to the endpapers prior to the score, it was performed publicly in 1899. It was "dedicated to Winefred Lady Howard of Glossop, & sung by Herr Mahlendorff at the Duthess of Buckingham's concert, St. James Square at Grosvenor Hous; also by Miss Clara Spencer L.R.A.M. at Loughborough & c.)" - from the paste-on behind front board. The words of the song were from a verse by Oliver Wendell Holmes titled, The Steamboat, and were used "by permission of Messrs Routledge & Sons" - also on the paste-on behind front board. The score was "copied" by J. Rowen, as per an attribution circle at the end of the score (see listing photo). The leather book has embossed full title in German, Träumerei Auf Dem Meere Symphonische Dichtung, translates to, Dreaming on the Sea Symphonic Poem". The boards show heavy wear, particularly on the spine which is cracking and flaking off. The book will be stored and shipped wrapped in shrink to retain its current condition, but it could use repair if desired. The interior is clean and solidly bound. The score does have some annotation by a previous owner in colored pencil throughout. Certainly the entire song could be reproduced with this score, and I'd be interested in hearing it! BB9
