Description: This listing is for an Unusual Antique Caucasian piled rug which we think it is from Shirvan or Kuba or Chichi Family, 19th Century for sure, most probably mid 19th C based on spectrum of colors , and perhaps even earlier ,Measuring 40 to 42 1/4 inches in width by about 93 Inches in length , weighing 8 lbs net , in As Shown condition with wear to pile and oxidation of some wool colors as shown.The back side of both ends has a cotton ribbon over 1 inches in width hand sewn on back. Soak Washed by a textile conservator multiple times , last on 4/15/21 , it is clean enough to touch face with. Wool pile , Wool warp and weft. Twined multiple dark and light warps I have looked for the design countless hours to no avail. If you know the design , let me know. In line with Chichi field designs.
