Description: Pair of 18th c. ? Hand-colored Engravings of Florence Entitled: Veduta della Chiesa, e Piazza di S. Croce and Veduta della Piazza della SS. Nunziata ... Giuseppe Zocchi (1711 - 1767); Engraved by Carlo Gregori (1719-1759) Very nice pair of what I believe to be 18th c. hand colored engravings. This plate depicts a scene showing the Piazza Santa Croce, one of the main squares of the center of Florence. The etching is believed to be from tables XXIV and TXI of the collection ''CHOICE OF XXIV VIEWS OF THE MAIN COUNTRIES, SQUARES, CHURCHES and PALACES OF THE CITY OF FLORENCE" 1) Scelta di XXIV Vedute delle principali contrade, piazze, chiese, e palazzi della Citt di Firenze 1744. 2) Veduta della Piazza della SS. Nunziata, Statua Equeftre di Ferdinando Primo, Fonti, e Loggie Laterali TXV Approx. Size: Image: 10.5" W x 8" H; Frame: 14.75" W x 12" H Both appear to be in very good condition. Framed long before I purchased and sealed in the back with brn. paper. Frames are wood, specked gold painted gilt. Please note I am not a professional in this area. I am selling these as found in a early estate from a collector. Please see and enlarge photos and email with any questions prior to purchase. Thanks
