Special Collections and Archives: The International Stewards Association was founded in 1901 as a national professional organization for stewards. The International Stewards Association (ISA) merged with the Caterers Association in 1932 and the organization assumed the name International Stewards and Caterers Association (ISCA). The organization again changed its name to Executive Stewards and Caterers Association (ESCA) in 1957 and adopted the current name International Food Service Executives Association (IFSEA) in 1976. The IFSEA is a nonprofit professional organization that provides its members with educational courses and certification opportunities related to the food service and hospitality industries. Members include restaurateurs, caterers, executive chefs, equipment manufacturers, food suppliers, students, and emerging professionals.
