Description: 1920's and 1930's View of Harvard Square Photos. Cambridge, MA.1920's Shows the Oval Head House that was built in 1912. The newer Head House was built in 1928 and is shown in the 1930's photo and home to Out of Town News which has been on the site since 1955 - although originally in a separate structure.Directly behind the Head House in the 1920's photo is Matthews Hall on the campus of Harvard University. Matthews Hall was built in 1872.In the 1930's photo you'll see two additional buildings. To the right of Matthews Hall you see Lehman Hall, which was built in 1925 and I believe now is referred to as Dudley House. To the left in front of Matthews Hall is Straus Hall. It was built in 1926.One sees the Trolley cars in both photos and the 1930's photo captures Boston Elevated Railroad as well (Bus just behind the Head House at left).Reproduction photos printed on high quality, high gloss, acid free base stock photographic paper. Paper size is 8" x 10". Original scanned photo paper was 8" x 10" as well. Original photos may have had borders, etc, and thus the image itself may be smaller than paper size.
