Description: 1922 Ireland Black Dollard Overprint from defaced plate, pair, Hib PR5 In 1922 when Ireland gained its independence it issued provisional overprints on British stamps until it could produce its own stamps. Two of the printing firms that produced these overprints, Dollard Printing House and Alex Thom, Ltd, produced proofs of the overprints that would be used on the stamps. These proofs were issued on several types of paper and with, or without, a handstamp on the reverse, some with the initials of BJ Brennan with the handstamp. Some were also issued on 1/2d stamps of GB. I am offering, in this lot, a pair printed in black from a defaced plate. It is listed in the Hibernian Catalogue as PR5 with a value of €24 for a single example, thus €48 for a pair. The item you see in the scan is the exact item you will be receiving. Stamps will be sent USPS first class mail with stiffeners to protect stamp. My shipping charge is minimal and I will combine shipping. If you buy more than one lot, there is only a single shipping charge based on the weight of all of the lots. In order to get the combined shipping charge you need to put all the lots in the same shopping cart and then request combined shipping, but don't pay for them until I send you an invoice, which will show the combined shipping cost. If you buy the items separately, you will be charged a shipping cost by eBay for each individual lot and I will be charged an additional charge for each transaction. There are some cases where eBay may indicate that I don't combine lots and won't allow you to request this. This is not true, but it seems to occur mostly in international transactions where two currencies are involved. If this occurs, just go ahead and pay and I will refund the excess shipping before I ship the lot. The most important thing is to use the shopping cart and pay for all the lots in one transaction.
