Description: This lovely quarter came out of an old-time collection that was built through acquisitions from established coin dealers. It has toned nicely over the years, and appears to have original surfaces and be good for the grade. This is better date, hard to find nice specimens in this grade. The Liberty Standing Quarter, or Standing Liberty Quarter, was minted in the U.S. from 1916 to 1930 and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and artistic designs in American numismatic history. This 1927 S, composed of 90% silver and 10% copper/nickel, comes from a large collection of a discerning collector, whose son is slowly parting with it. The collector purchased it from a local coin shop (local then, as there are not very many around now) and you can see from the holder what the dealer charged at the time. This beautiful coin was designed by sculptor Hermon MacNeil, who won a competition held by the Mint to create a new design. The obverse features a depiction of Lady Liberty standing with her right hand holding a shield and her left hand extending an olive branch and was intended to symbolize America's readiness for war but also its desire for peace. The reverse features an eagle in flight, with its wings outstretched. We ship fast via USPS Priority Insured Mail, and share the postal charges.
