1934 CNW - Chicago & North Western Railroad - World's Fair brochure & map

Description: The Chicago & North Western Railroad (CNW) was a mid-west US carrier, with routes extending from Chicago west to Nebraska and South Dakota. In 1934-1935, Chicago hosted a World's Fair, termed "A Century of Progress". The theme of the fair was technological innovation. The fair's motto was "Science Finds, Industry Applies, Man Adapts"; its architectural symbol was the Sky Ride, a transporter bridge perpendicular to the shore on which one could ride from one side of the fair to the other. Most major railroads had exhibits at the Fair, to include the CNW. For auction is a CNW brochure showing a map of the Fair and promoting its exhibit. 1934 CNW - Chicago & North Western Railroad - World's Fair brochure & map Click images to enlarge Description The Chicago & North Western Railroad (CNW) was a mid-west US carrier, with routes extending from Chicago west to Nebraska and South Dakota. Formed in 1865, it provided freight, passenger and commuter rail services for many years. With the changing rail climate after World War II, the CNW began financial difficulties that led to its acquisition in 1995 by the Union Pacific Railroad (UP). Most of the surviving CNW trackage is now operated by the UP. The brochure measures appx 9x4 inches closed and opens to appx 24x9 inches; it is printed on mid-weight paperstock. This publication is in excellent condition, in spite of being over 80 years old. It has no rips, tears, writing, markings or folds. A great item for the collector of CNW, Chicago or World's Fair memorabilia.  Pictures sell!
