Description: This badge was worn by a truck driver in the 1950s. These cap badges were a common part of a driver's uniform during the mid 20th century. This badge belonged to a driver employed by Van Buren Canning Company, which was started in 1877. Many years later it was purchased by Allen Canning Company. It is now owned by Del Monte Foods. The plant is located just outside Van Buren, near Alma, Arkansas. Alma is known as the spinach capital of the world, and is the original home of the Popeye's Spinach brand. Green beans and spinach represented a large part of Van Buren Canning's business. This badge is a wonderful piece of history. It would be a great candidate for restoration, and just as lovely displayed as-is. Thanks for having a look at my listing. I sincerely appreciate your time. Please reach out if you have any questions or feedback. I will respond as promptly as possible.
