1955 D Lincoln Wheat Cent BIE Error

Description: 1955-D Lincoln Wheat Cent BIE Error This listing is for one 1955-D Lincoln Wheat Cent with a BIE Error. The obverse has a Die Chip located between the “B” and “E” in LIBERTY. This error is commonly referred to as a BIE Error. There are multiple varieties and die stages for this error. This coin appears to have the larger Die Chip of these varieties. This coin appears to have a Re-punched mint mark. It most resembles a RPM-014 from references. It has the upper and lower serifs and tilting is visible under higher magnification. Unfortunately, due to wear, contact marks, dirt, and other factors the details are not sharp enough for me to make this determination. I have provided a couple of photos for this mint mark. In my opinion this coin would grade Very Fine/Extra Fine in condition with a scratch on the reverse in the motto. I’m not an expert at grading coins or error coins.
