"Popcorn" Card #8 - WERNER 'BABE' BIRRER ~ 1957 Los Angeles Angels Issued by photographer-collector Ed Broder, circa 1974 Little is known about this card and the set it comes from except that the card pictures a player in the 1950's and was probably produced in the 1970's by PCL and photography enthusiast Ed Broder. The card measures approximately 2" by 3" and features a borderless (sometimes miscut) black and white photograph on the front with player name, team, card number and set identification (P.C.L. "Popcorn" Cards) on the reverse. There are no statistics and no manufacturer's copyright. The card stock is thin but reasonably sturdy. It is an interesting item for longtime followers of the old Pacific Coast League and quite tough to find for a collector's issue.
