The present collection comprises the autobiography from 1919 to 1969. Both first edition, first impression. Complete with its dust wrapper. Leonard Woolf was a British political theorist, author, and civil servant, husband to Virginia Woolf, and an avid publisher of his own works and his wife's novels. An influential figure in the Bloomsbury Group, Leonard was himself a writer, producing nineteen individual works and six volumes of autobiography. These volumes tell of how Virginia Woolf wrote the novels which gradually established her fame, of the growth of the Hogarth Press, and of his own work as a writer, publisher, and politician; as well as of the years of war, his life in Sussex with Virginia, and her suicide. CONDITION In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, a minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Library bookplate to the front pastedown of 'Downhill all the Way.' The dust wrapper is sound, minor shelf wear only, one is price clipped. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to the fore edge, not affecting pages that remain bright and clean. Featuring photographic plates in black and white throughout.
