The first of 22 new profile milling machines being built by Kearney & Trecker Corporation for the air materiel command at Wright-Patterson (Ohio) air force base will undergo test here soon. Three others are nearing completion at the company's special machinery plant on highway 100 in West Allis, where all the machines are to be produced. The air materiel command will allocate the machines to users under the air force machine tool modernization program. The machine, designed for three directional movement in milling high tensile steel and aluminum, is guided by a plastic tape numerical control system developed by Bendix Aviation Corporation. Kearney & Trecker officials pointed out that the machine could be used in any metal working industry that uses high tensile steels. Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches. Photo is dated 04-07-1967.
