1969 Girls Schwinn Stardust Sting-Ray. Rebuilt & Ready to Ride or Display

Description: Vintage 1969 Campus Green Schwinn Stardust Sting-Ray. Rebuilt and ready to ride or Display. This is a made in Chicago Schwinn Stardust Girl’s Sting-Ray. This Campus Green Stardust was made in March 1969, the first of four years for this model (1969 – 1972). The model number is H86-6 and the serial number is CE53071. The bicycle has coaster brakes and the wheels are 20”. The bike was disassembled, repaired as necessary, meticulously cleaned, greased, and carefully reassembled. For the collector, the bike is complete except for the factory equipped rear reflector and the front floral basket and carrier. The parts that have been replaced include the fasteners for the bottom of the sissy bar/fender, rear tire, and front inner tube. Everything else, including hardware, appears original. Components that are dated support this. The metal pan for the original seat is in great shape as seen in the pictures. The seat cover and foam are well worn but could be re-covered. The original sissy bar has a slight bend about six inches from the bottom of each bar but is still solid and easily adjusted. The rear rim has three minor dents/bends likely caused from hitting curbs or potholes. The last three pictures show these defects. The green glitter handgrips are worn on the ends. The original Schwinn Sting-Ray Fastback front tire is still useable but worn. If this bike is to be ridden often it should be switched. The paint has a few scrapes/nicks as seen in the pictures. The sticker from the bicycle store that originally sold the bike in 1969 is still on the chain guard and the City of Topeka license is still on the seat tube. There are also some reflective tape/stickers in two spots on the frame. An identifying number was engraved into the bottom bracket and bottom of the downtube. Both are barely visible. The chrome does have a few minor scratches but is in extraordinarily good shape and is still beautiful; especially the fenders. Overall, this somewhat rare 54 year old bike is in remarkable shape and the pictures can't show well enough what a fine original complete bike this is. It is both fun and safe to ride right now or displayed in a collection! Local pickup is available or the bike can be shipped for $150.00 anywhere in the continental US. If shipped, the bike will be partially disassembled, packed, and shipped via by a local bike shop. It may take up to 10 days for the bicycle shop to ship the bike depending how busy they are. It will require reassembly when received (handlebars, seat, pedals). I will also help facilitate other preferred shipping methods arranged and paid for by the buyer.
