Both Irish banks issue £1, £5, and £10 denominations. The Bank of Ireland also issues a £100 note.The notes of the Bank of Ireland feature Hibernia, the allegorical figure representing Ireland. An extraordinarily rich and diverse effect is achieved through the combination of complex white-line, guilloche, and fantasy patterns, and through the subtle variance of colors. The back of each note depicts the bank's main Belfast office, symbolically placed at the heart of Northern Ireland's industry.The notes of the Provincial Bank of Ireland all differ in design, but share a common theme - the history and cultural heritage of Northern Ireland. The engraved portraits on the front, each accentuated by white-line framing, are remarkably fine. The value numerals are inspired by the Book of Kells, the background design by the Lindisfarne Gospels.
