There are inset plans of Birmingham, Montgomery, Gadsden, Huntsville, Mobile, Tuscaloosa, and Anniston. There are two portraits on the front cover: Governor Fob James and Highway Director Rex Rainer. The map was published by the State of Alabama Highway Department. It is is dated 1979-1980 in the legend and on the cover.
