Description: The 1979 Proof Boxed Set debuted of a new design and size of dollar coin.The Susan B. Anthony dollar is slightly larger than the Washington dollar, and the reverse features a portrait of a suffragette, while the reverse repeats the previous design of the Eisenhower dollar on a smaller canvas. The 1979 Proof coins included in this set have two different mintmark styles, known as Type 1 or Type 2. The Type 1 mintmark has a filled area inside the letter, while the Type 2 mintmark is clear and flat on top. Fewer examples of the Type 2 exist than the Type 1. The rarity of the Type 2 version varies by denomination, with the Susan B. Anthony dollar being the rarest and most valuable. The packaging of the 1979 Proof box set was unchanged from the previous year, with one exception. A circular plastic ring was inserted into the large slot reserved for the dollar to accommodate the new denomination size. Condition: Package & case show signs of wear & tear. The black protective plastic piece is not attached to case. Coins show signs of aging, tarnishing, &/or oxidation. Please see photos for reference.
