Description: Christmas Carols in Porcelain "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day" designed by Bjorn Wiinblad and produced by Rosenthal Brilliantly colored, with a DEEP cobalt blue background and a LOT of gold decoration on the surface - classic Wiinblad design. This is the sixth plate in the Limited Edition series featuring well-known Christmas Carols. A group of Carolers stands before a crowd of on-lookers, while overhead all the churches prominently display their bells. Inscribed "Weihnachten 1988" (Christmas 1988), with the artist's signature in gold on the front of the plate. On the back is the name of the series "Christmas Carols on Porcelain" and the title and words to this Christmas Carol, written out in gold. The highest quality porcelain, approximately 11.5 inch (29 cm) is the longest dimension, with pierced foot for a hanging wire. Bjørn Wiinblad was born in 1918 in Copenhagen and was educated at the Royal Academy of Arts in Copenhagen. His association with Rosenthal started in 1956 and he has produced ceramic, glass, silver and furniture designs for them. His work is exhibited in museums throughout the world and he has won many medals and awards.
