Actors ---- NBC Sunday Night at the Movies - "Elvis & The Colonel: The Untold Story" -- Sunday, January 10 (9-11 p.m. NYT) -- Pictured: Beau Bridges, Rob Youngblood --- Untold story of Elvis and the Colonel on NBC -- Beau Bridges and Rob Youngblood star in "Elvis & the Colonel: The Untold Story," an inside look at the tumultuous relationship between Elvis Presley and Colonel Tom Parker, the man who boasted of his ability to make or break the King of Rock 'n' Roll. It will be telecast on NBC Sunday Night at the Movies, Jan. 10 (9-11 p.m. NYT). Elvis (Youngblood), an innocent boy from Tupelo, MS, desperately searches for spiritual and career guidance. He finds his guide in Memphis in Colonel Tom Parker (Bridges), a self-serving manager, who takes Elvis to the top of the entertainment profession. A straining relationship follows as Parker aims to secure himself financially and emotionally by exploiting Elvis's talent. The colonel's continual domination over the King's professional and personal life, coupled with Elvis's growing insecurity about his audience appeal, lands a devastating blow to the performer's ego. The film was directed by William A. Graham ("Howard Hughes," "Guyana Tragedy: The Story of Jim Jones"), who also directed "Change of Habit" one of Elvis's last feature films. Phil Penningroth ("When the Bough Breaks") wrote the teleplay. Dick Clark ("Hot Country Nights," "A Cry for Help: The Tracey Thurman Story") and Neil Stearns are the executive producers of the movie from the Dick Clark film group.Photo measures 8 x 10inches.
