Description: Welcome to Antiques & Moore!This listing is for a small 19th Century wooden sewing box with burgundy silk lined interior. The body of the box is made of alternating woods using bird's eye maple and walnut around the sides with a bird's eye maple center top. Mounted on top of the box is a Sterling Silver banner engraved with the name "Eleanor". The interior of the box is lined with burgundy silk with the interior top being padded and tufted with an attached band for sewing implements. The box has a hinged top with the hinge being tight and the box opening and closing correctly. The locking mechanism is intact, however, we do not have the key. The box sits on four small round metal feet.Measures 3 1/4" high, 6 3/8" long and 4 1/2" wide. Weighs 15 ounces. The body of this nice box is in very good to excellent Estate condition with no major flaws. There is a tiny piece of veneer missing on the front corner of the top and another near the back corner on the base and a small faint stress crack in the wood on one side. The silk fabric on the interior of the top is worn on one side and there was originally a lift-out drawer in the bottom that is missing. Overall the wear is minor and consistent with age and normal wear.
