He is perhaps best known for being the founder of the prestigious "Portfolio" publication, which produced some ground-breaking art history monographs and published the work of leading etchers such as Alphonse Legros, and, importantly, Charles Amand Durand. Through his connections in France (he married a French lady) and resided there frequently, Hamerton was instrumental in bringing Amand Durand's work to the attention of the British art world, especially his re-creations of the etchings of Rembrandt - some of which were published in "The Portfolio" in the 1880s. ***ALL MY ITEMS ARE SENT (WORLDWIDE) VIA ROYAL MAIL TRACKED & SIGNED SERVICE, FOR EVERYBODY'S PEACE OF MIND ***
