Description: The Minikins of Yam by Thomas Burnett Swann Illustrated by George Barr (signed?) DAW Books First Edition DAW Book Number 182 Description: Mass market paperback book published by DAW Books in 1976. The copyright page states 'First Printing, February 1976' and the printing status bar is complete, making this a first printing. A paperback original. Inscribed 'For Steve' by the illustrator on the title page. Note: I purchased this already autographed. The rest of the Swann books that I am selling I had George Barr sign myself. The signature in this book is different, in that it is signed in longhand rather than printing and has his full first name rather than only a 'G', so I cannot be 100% sure of the authenticity of the signature. However, the 'B' in Barr looks a great deal like the 'B' in some of the signatures I had him do, so I am assuming that the signature is real. From the Back Cover: "Swann's neo-romantic fantasies of the past are unique. He uses the stuff of myth but with twists and inventions of his own." So wrote the Village Voice (New York) and such have been the views of Swann's legion of devotees. In this, his latest novel, Swann takes the reader to Ancient Egypt, the Egypt of the Pharaohs and beast-headed gods, beyond whose borders lay the jungles and kingdoms of whisper and legend. This is the story of a young Pharaoh, of his journey beyond those mystic borders, of his meeting with ghosts, gods, and the marvelous minikins. It is a Swann novel to rank with How Are the Mighty Fallen and Green Phoenix in the esteem of fantasy fiction readers. Condition: Binding - near fine, slight edgewear, slight rubbing and soiling, one light crease across the tip of the bottom rear cover corner, no spine reading creases, insides of covers and pages browning very slightly around the edges, appears unread. Dust jacket - none, as issued.
