Description: This wonderful antique pair of tiny 5 1/2 Inch (6 inches with the wooden shoes in place) German dolls are dressed as Dutch children with hand carved wooden shoes. They have tiny open crown socket heads with set glass eyes. The heads are painted in a flesh tone with tiny painted eyebrows and red lips. The glass eyes are very dark and probably black or dark brown. The five piece composition bodies have some deep craze lines in the legs, and girl is missing the hand from her left arm. Their mohair glued on wigs are long and wavy except for the crown that is covered by hats and a hood that matches their outfits. There is one extra shoe and sock that is included. They came from a local estate years ago, and the girl has a cloth embroidered label under her skirt that reads "J.K. Bates", the name of the family. These were the only ones I rescued, but it was a large collection of these type tiny dolls. There are some illegible markings on the backs of the heads, one looks like "13". They are perfect for an antique dollhouse, or as small dolls for displaying with a larger antique doll. Please do feel free to ask questions if needed. THANKS !!
