Description: 2 Atq 1818 & 1823 Original Handwritten Capt John N Tolson VA Letter & Document 1. Letter from John Tolson dated July 18, 1818 regarding the sale of a horse. He accepts an offer of $200 while claiming it's worth $500 but he had already agreed so would keep his word. If the money wasn't coming soon he was going to keep the horse. That's essentially the first page. The second, third, and back page appears to be a sort of diary where someone, maybe the recipent of the letter, documents where he was on (probably) each Sunday of the month from August, 1818 through July 1819. No sense in wasting good paper! 2. Message to Capt. J. N. Tolson, dated May 23, 1823 that's difficult to read but includes $5.68. Not sure what that one is about. 3. We looked John N. Tolson up and found a likely match on "Our Family Tree". We've included what we found in this sale. Letter measures 8 1/4" x 6 3/4" folded once down the center.Document measures 7 3/4" x 3".
