First is our replica of The Tlaloc Sculpture that can be found in the museum of Xalapa Veracruz Mx. The cult of Tlaloc is one of the oldest and most universal in ancient Mexico. Although the name Tlaloc is specifically Aztec, worship of a storm god like Tlaloc, associated with mountaintop shrines and with life-giving rain, is as at least as old as Teotihuacan and likely was adopted from the Maya god Chaac or vice versa, or perhaps he was ultimately derived from an earlier Olmec precursor. Tlāloc is a member of the pantheon of gods in Aztec religion. As supreme god of the rain, Tlaloc is also a god of earthly fertility and of water. He was widely worshipped as a beneficent giver of life and sustenance. However, he was also feared for his ability to send hail, thunder, and lightning, and for being the lord of the powerful element of water. Tlaloc is also associated with caves, springs, and mountains, most specifically the sacred mountain in which he was believed to reside. His animal forms include herons and water-dwelling creatures such as amphibians, snails, and possibly sea creatures, particularly shellfish. Second is Mictlantecuhtli, Lord Of The Underworld. Mictlantecuhtli is a deity in Aztec mythology who is associated with the underworld, death, and the afterlife. The name "Mictlantecuhtli" comes from the Nahuatl language, with "Mictlan" meaning "the region of the dead" or "the underworld," and "Tecuhtli" meaning "lord" or "ruler." As the ruler of the underworld, Mictlantecuhtli held significant importance in Aztec cosmology and religious beliefs. In Aztec mythology, Mictlantecuhtli was often depicted as a skeletal figure or a decomposing corpse, wearing a skull or bone headdress, with a gaping maw and skeletal limbs. He was typically depicted in a seated or reclining posture, symbolizing his role as the lord of the dead and ruler of the underworld. Mictlantecuhtli was believed to govern Mictlan, the realm of the dead, which was seen as the final destination for souls after death. Mictlan was described as a cold and desolate place, and it was believed that the souls of the dead had to undergo a perilous journey through various challenges and obstacles to reach this underworld realm. Mictlantecuhtli was the one who judged the souls and determined their fate in the afterlife. Mictlantecuhtli was also associated with fertility and regeneration, as he was believed to preside over the process of decomposition and decay, which was seen as a necessary step in the cycle of life and death. He was often invoked during funerary rites and ceremonies to guide the souls of the deceased on their journey to the underworld and ensure their safe passage. In Aztec mythology, Mictlantecuhtli played a crucial role in the cyclical worldview of life, death, and rebirth. He represented the inevitability of death and the power of regeneration, and was revered as a deity with great authority over the realm of the dead. As such, Mictlantecuhtli held significant importance in Aztec religious practices, rituals, and beliefs surrounding death, the afterlife, and the cyclical nature of existence. It is NOT 3D Printed These clay items are replicas of ancient sculptures found in Maya and Aztec culture, many found in ancient tombs by archeologists, Mictlantecuhtli was the God of the underworld, a place called Mictlan, he was worshipped across Mesoamerica and is closely associated with owls, spiders and bats, Two life-size clay statues of him were found marking the entrances to the house of the eagle to the north of the great temple of Tenochtitlan. most of the time we see death as unbearable or scary, it is only a bridge to the afterlife. our goal is to keep our culture alive and well preserved in art, a trade that has been handed to my family from past generations, each item is hand crafted by us, there are not two alike, and I can assure that there is not another exact craft. we put a lot of love into each one of our items, we strive to reach perfection even though it is nearly impossible, specially working with clay or ceramic, there could be stress marks or small cracks made by the changing temperatures our crafts are put to.
