You are bidding on about 20 FORTUNE'S EMPRESS TREE SEEDS - Paulownia fortunei . Common Names: Dragontree , Dragon Tree, Empress Tree Fortune's , Empress Tree , Princess Tree . This is a fast-growing deciduous flowering tree native to China and Taiwan and has naturalized in parts of the USA including all areas of NC. It can grow up to 20 feet a year when young maturing at 50-75 feet tall. In spring it blooms with many clusters of large tubular flowers before leaf-out. The heart-shaped leaves are large up to 9 inches long. In Asia, it has been used to help remove heavy metals in contaminated soils, to decrease air pollution and for reforestization. , due to its use of C4 carbon fixation, and is planted for timber harvesting. This is a moderately cold-hardy plant, though it needs to grow in areas with long hot summers in order to fully develop its hardiness. In such regions it is able to tolerate temperatures down to around -20°c when fully dormant, though in areas with cooler summers it can be damaged by considerably less cold conditions. Medicinal use: A decoction of the leaves is used to wash foul ulcers and is also said to promote the growth of hair and prevent graying. The leaves are also poulticed onto bruises. The leaf juice is used in the treatment of warts. The flowers are used in the treatment of skin ailments. A tincture of the inner bark is used in the treatment of fevers and delirium. It is astringent and vermifuge. Edible parts : Leaves - cooked. An emergency food, used when all else fails. Flowers. Eaten with miso.Other uses : Wood - not attacked by insects.
