Description: On February 12, 1840, a censored permission to print "Kobzar" was issued. This is how the 26-year-old poet named his first collection of poems, which consisted of eight works. (This name was kept for two subsequent editions, 1844 and 1860). It came out from the printing house "Kobzar" somewhere in March - at the beginning of April and received unanimous recognition from critics regarding the poetic talent of its author. Since then, all of Shevchenko's poetic works have been identified with the texts of the book called "Kobzar". She opened a new era in the history of Ukrainian literature. Before that, no Ukrainian poet had written such wonderful works as those that made up "Kobzar", no one had evoked such thoughts or such moods. Melodic poetic words, closeness to folklore, ardent love for the Motherland, pure vernacular language - the main features of the Shevchenko language - were vividly manifested in this book. Shevchenko appeals to the national memory of Ukrainians, reminds of the past glory of Zaporizhzhya, praises the oppressed peasantry, dreams of the people becoming full-fledged owners of their land.
