Measurements are in inches unless otherwise stated: #24-070, Spectacular Victorian 1870's Burgundy Silk Bustle Gown: This is such a beautiful garment. It was created in two pieces. A long bodice and a skirt with train. The color in the photos is actually lighter than the garments are. The bodice is a deeper color and the skirt is only several shades lighter than the bodice. I photographed the garment in natural light and photographed it again after dark and still did not get the true color. The gown is spectacular as you can see. It has a bust of 32 inches, a waist of 23 inches, a sleeve length of 22 inches and the shoulder is 12.5 inches across. The skirt length from the waist band to the hem in front is 39 inches. It has mother of pearl buttons on the inner bodice. There are three missing and one that is loose and it is in a bag in the box. There are no closures on the skirt waist band & no closures on the front yoke. I see no evidence that there ever were. The bodice was probably pinned closed. There is a drip on the front of the skirt. See photo. It is not so noticeable in real life as in the photo. Remember the skirt is a deeper shade than what is seen in the photo. It does have underarm stains. See photos. There is a tear on the back train of the skirt. It could have been stepped on when worn. See photo. There is slight fading to the skirt. The top of the bodice is lined in brown cotton. It has its original ties in the bustle skirt, but one is loose on one end. It really is a stunning garment. It was high fashion for its period in time.
